Dimension & Scope:
Responsible for providing advanced technical assistance to Application Development groups. Production and Technical Support and others ensuring optimum performance levels of IS databases in support of Convergys' products and services. Responsible for developing and implementing database design models for medium to large projects of a very complex nature. Typical design projects will include large multiple databases across several business functions.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Serves as the Lead Database Analyst on multiple Application Development project teams handling large and complex Database design projects.
On larger projects, this position provides direction to lower level Database Analysts assigned to the project.
Conducts meetings with users and Applications Developers and applies sound business judgment in determining appropriate data security and access restrictions for Databases.
Ensures the optimum performance of Databases by reviewing and specifying the hardware requirements across an operating system.
Reviews Database designs prepared by subordinate staff to ensure conformance to corporate standards and for control of replicated data.
Ensures the inclusion of appropriate backup and recovery procedures for each Database design.
Identifies, develops and recommends new and revised Database standards, policies and procedures to guide Database development activity.
Conducts technical walk through of new Database designs with the project team to ensure satisfaction of technical standards and client requirements.
Provide on-call technical support as required.
Education & Professional Certifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in related technical discipline and Six years relevant experience
Or
Master’s Degree in related technical discipline and Four Years relevant experience
Or
Eleven years relevant experience without college degree.
Candidate Profile:
Requires an advanced level of technical proficiency in the design and management of Databases for one or more DBMS's.
Proven skill in database administration, data modeling, entity relationship tools and 3rd party utilities. Extensive knowledge of hardware, operating systems and file systems.
Must be methodical and process oriented.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Clear understanding of role in meeting departmental objectives.
Advanced business knowledge and excellent project management skills.
Excellent problem solving and analytical skills.
Must have proficiency with various software applications programs including Lotus Notes, Microsoft Word, and Excel.
Detail and customer service orientedMust have a customer-focused attitude by being responsive and timely with feedback and solutions.
The position of SAP Basis Administrator includes the following:
The installation and maintenance of SAP R/3, Enterprise, ERP 2004, BW, XI and Portals.
The application of kernel upgrades, the install of support packages, the application of OSS notes, performance monitoring and management, storage management and capacity planning, backup and recovery management, support and configuration of the Transport Management System, client and database copies.
The candidate should be experienced with SAP 4.0b to ERP. Additional experience with UNIX, Shell, Oracle and MS Windows is required.
Good communication skills are a must.
Direct contact with users and developers is a normal part of the job.
The candidate must also be able to work with minimal supervision.
Experience with the HR and Payroll modules would be a plus.
